New Living Translation (©2007)
1 Timothy 6:10,”For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.”

Beware of Lies
This teachings could be a life saver to many out there.I have always wanted to write something on the danger of loving money. Therefore, this is just the right moment.

Iam sure many of you like myself keep getting fraudulent emails wrapped up in innocence. The emails are scam designed to reap off unwary and naive people of their live savings and goodwill.

The Internet has become a home where many people have lost their sense of being and livelihood. This morning I received an email, within me I had a check notifying me of the deceit of the sender.

Nevertheless,I opened an began to read. The unfortunate discovery is that people now use the NAME of God, and christian identification to defraud  people.

Below is an excerpt of the email I received notice the words in bold italic:

Dear Beloved Friend,

I am Mrs Gloria Caldwell, a widow to late Richard Caldwell. I am 58years old, i am now a new Christian convert, suffering from long time cancer of the breast, from all indication my conditions is really deteriorating and it is quite obvious that i will not live more than six months, according to my doctors, this is because the cancer stage has gotten to a very bad stage.

My late husband Died of Cardiac, Coronary Artery Operation and during the period of our marriage we could not produce any child. My late husband was very wealthy and after his death, I inherited all his business and wealth. The doctors has advised me that i may not live for more than six months, so I now decided to divide the part of this wealth, to contribute to the development of the church, mosque and heart care foundation or any thing that will generate happiness to the children of god in Africa, America, Asia, and Europe.

I prayed over it, I am willing to donate the sum of $3.2Million US dollars, to the less privileged. Please I want you to note that this fund is lying in a bank in Burkina Faso in West Africa, where i and my late Husband, Live all our Life before he Dead and upon my instruction, my attorney will file in an application for the transfer of the money in your name. Lastly, i honestly pray that this money when transferred will be used for the said purpose, because i have come to find out that wealth acquisition without Christ is vanity. May the grace of our Lord Jesus the love of god and the fellowship of god be with you and your family.
I await your urgent reply.

Yours in Christ
Mrs. Gloria Caldwell

Examine yourself

This and many more emails show the depth of deceit in the world we live in.Until your total devotion in life is to bring transformation to humanity you are living a wasted life. Many justify their illegal behavior with their present circumstances.

For the love of money is the root of all evil. Not the money itself, which if used as by a steward of God is a blessing, so much as the love of it. This greedy love is the source of every sin. Men murder, cheat, lie, rob, run saloons, gambling houses, brothels, all for the love of money. For love of money Judas sold his Master.

Some… have erred from the faith. Have wandered from the faith through the love of money. Judas is one example
Love of money – Commonly called prudent care of what a man has. Is the root – The parent of all manner of evils. Which some coveting have erred – Literally, missed the mark. They aimed not at faith, but at something else. And pierced themselves with many sorrows – From a guilty conscience, tormenting passions, desires contrary to reason, religion, and one another. How cruel are worldly men to themselves!

Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

Those that make a trade of Christianity to serve their turn for this world, will be disappointed; but those who mind it as their calling, will find it has the promise of the life that now is, as well as of that which is to come. He that is godly, is sure to be happy in another world; and if contented with his condition in this world, he has enough; and all truly godly people are content. When brought into the greatest straits, we cannot be poorer than when we came into this world; a shroud, a coffin, and a grave, are all that the richest man in the world can have from all his wealth. If nature should be content with a little, grace should be content with less. The necessaries of life bound a true Christian’s desires, and with these he will endeavour to be content. We see here the evil of covetousness. It is not said, they that are rich, but they will be rich; who place their happiness in wealth, and are eager and determined in the pursuit. Those that are such, give to Satan the opportunity of tempting them, leading them to use dishonest means, and other bad practices, to add to their gains. Also, leading into so many employments, and such a hurry of business, as leave no time or inclination for spiritual religion; leading to connexions that draw into sin and folly. What sins will not men be drawn into by the love of money! People may have money, and yet not love it; but if they love it, this will push them on to all evil. Every sort of wickedness and vice, in one way or another, grows from the love of money. We cannot look around without perceiving many proofs of this, especially in a day of outward prosperity, great expenses, and loose profession.
